Lesson Report MEL-3 September 26, 2026

Hello, Class! This is Towako from MEL School.

How are you?

See you next week!

<Lesson Review>

基礎英語1(9月号)

(p. 71) Lesson 95

前回書いたSummaryをみんなでShareしました。

その後は、Summaryを読むだけではなく、内容を思い出しながら口頭でストーリーを再現する練習をして、もう一度チャレンジしました。

MEL-3では、

Listen → Imagine → Retell → Write → Reproduce

と、理解した内容を何度も違う形でOutputしています。

一度できたことで終わらず、もう一度自分の力で思い出して言ってみることを大切にしましょう。

Bridge Work 1

Chapter 8 Unit 2: Whose dictionary is this?

Word Box #15 — 文房具や持ち物

前回書いた自分の文章への添削を確認しました。間違いやすいポイントをチェックしましょう!

(p. 132) Grammar and Communication-3

Verbs to Learn #12

#2-a

ELST

4級 問題1 実践対策① Part 2

ELSTで実践問題に取り組みました。

その後、Google ClassroomでSTTにも取り組み、学習した内容を確認しました。

Lesson Review

今日のレッスンの振り返りを書きました。

今週は特に、

Understand → Reproduce → Use!

をたくさん練習しました。

英語は「見れば分かる」だけでは、なかなか話せるようにはなりません。見ないでも思い出せるか、自分のことを言えるか、相手の話を理解して伝えられるかに少しずつチャレンジしていきましょう!

Great job today! 🌟

Lesson Report MEL-1L, MEL-1Lα September 25, 2026

Hello, Class! This is Towako from MEL School.

How are you?

See you next week!

Towako

Phonics

Phonics Chant|th・wh — Double Letter Consonants #1

動画を見ながら、th・wh の音を練習しました。

thick, think, teeth, path, whale, whisker, white, whisper

スペリングを見ながら、th と wh がどんな音になるのかを確認し、動画に合わせて声に出しました。

新しい音なので、これから何度も練習していきましょう!

基礎英語(9月号)

(p. 63–) Lesson 93「避難場所」

まずイラストを見ながら、場面について話しました。

Is everyone listening to Hinako?
→ Yes, they are.

First Listeningでは、まずストーリーの内容に集中して聞きました。

そのあと、

Where is the local evacuation site?
→ It’s their school.

Where was Ms. Takeuchi during the last big earthquake?
→ She was at school.

などのQuestionsに答えて、お話の内容を確認しました。

その後は教科書を閉じて Listen and Repeat。聞こえた英語をまねしてから、教科書を開いて英文を確認し、Role-playをしました。

(p. 67–) Lesson 94「災害への備え」

まずイラストを見て、Ms. Takeuchiが何を持っているのかを英語で説明しました。

What is Ms. Takeuchi holding?
→ She is holding a backpack.

音声を聞きながら指で英文を追い、その後、声に出して練習しました。

今回は、会話を読みながら2つのポイントを先生と一緒に確認しました。

① “What’s in them?” の them は何のこと?

→ Emergency kits

英語では、一度出てきたものを何度も同じ名前で言わず、themのような言葉に置き換えることがあります。

② “Water, food, and batteries.” には何が省略されている?

もとの形を考えると、

I think they are water, food, and batteries.

となります。

会話では、前後から分かる部分を全部言わないことがあります。今は自分ですぐに見つけられなくても大丈夫!お話の場面と英文を結びつけながら、「こういうことか!」を少しずつ増やしていきましょう。

最後に会話をノートに写して、英文をもう一度確認しました。

MEL-1Lα|Bridge Work Book 1

Chapter 2 Unit 1: His eyes are blue.

(p. 30) Grammar and Communication-1 #3

this / these の否定文

前回練習した This isn’t ... / These aren’t ... の英文をListen and Readで復習してから、Dictationにチャレンジしました。

聞こえた英語を思い出しながら書くことで、音と英文の形を結びつける練習をしました。

Word Box #8 — Things to Wear

身につけるものを表すVocabularyを確認し、発音を練習しました。

新しい単語は、文字だけで覚えようとせず、実際のものをイメージしながら声に出すことを大切にしましょう。

(p. 31) Grammar and Communication-2

複数形の作り方② — 不規則変化

今回は、単数形から複数形にするときに、形が変わる単語を練習しました。

まずみんなで、

singular(1つ)→ plural(2つ以上)

に変える練習をしてから、ペアでもチャレンジしました。

いつものように -s をつけるだけではない単語もあります。まずは何度も声に出して、少しずつ形に慣れていきましょう。

Homework

今回練習した表現のWriting Practiceに取り組みましょう!

Lesson Review

今日のレッスンの振り返りを書きました。

英語は、一度説明を聞いただけですべて分かる必要はありません。

Listen → Understand → Repeat → Check!

聞いて、意味を確認して、声に出して、また確認する。その繰り返しで、少しずつ「分かる英語」「使える英語」を増やしていきましょう!

Great job today! 🌟

Lesson Report MEL-1E September 25, 2026

Hello, Class! This is Towako from MEL School.

How are you?

今回から Phonicsは、新しい音 th・wh の練習を始めました!

「基礎英語」では、防災についてのお話を聞きました。今回のQuizでは、themが何を指しているのか、省略されている言葉は何か、scaredとscaryはどう違うのかをペアで考えました。

英語を理解するときは、一つの文だけを見るのではなく、前後の会話や場面から「何のことを言っているのかな?」と考えることがとても大切です。少しずつこの力をつけていきましょう!

See you next week!

Phonics

Phonics Chant|th・wh — Double Letter Consonants #1

動画を見ながら、th・wh の音を練習しました。

thick, think, teeth, path, whale, whisker, white, whisper

スペリングを見ながら、th と wh がどんな音になるのかを確認し、動画に合わせて声に出しました。

これから何度も練習して、文字を見たときに自然に音が出てくるようにしていきましょう!

基礎英語(9月号)

(p. 63–) Lesson 93「避難場所」

まずイラストを見ながら、場面について話しました。

Is everyone listening to Hinako?
→ Yes, they are.

First Listeningでは、まずストーリーの内容に集中して聞きました。

そのあと、

Where is the local evacuation site?
→ It’s their school.

Where was Ms. Takeuchi during the last big earthquake?
→ She was at school.

などのQuestionsに答えて、聞き取った内容を確認しました。

その後はテキストを閉じて Listen and Repeat。聞こえた英語をそのまままねしてから、テキストを開いて英文を確認し、Role-playをしました。

(p. 67–) Lesson 94「災害への備え」

まずイラストを見て、Ms. Takeuchiが何を持っているのかを英語で説明しました。

What is Ms. Takeuchi holding?
→ She is holding a backpack.

音声を聞きながら指で英文を追い、その後、声に出して練習しました。

Quiz!

今回は3つの問題を、ペアで協力して考えました。

① “What’s in them?” の them は何のこと?

→ Emergency kits

前に出てきた言葉を思い出すと、themが何を指しているのかが分かりますね。

② “Water, food, and batteries.” の前に省略されている言葉は?

→ I think they are water, food, and batteries.

会話では、前後から分かる部分を省略して話すことがあります。会話の流れから隠れている言葉を考える練習をしました。

③ “Were you scared?” を “Was the earthquake ...?” に変えると?

Were you scared?
→ Was the earthquake scary?

scared は「人が怖がっている」、scary は「もの・出来事が怖い」という違いがあります。

I was scared.
私は怖かった。

The earthquake was scary.
その地震は怖かった。

「誰が怖いと感じているのか」「何が人を怖がらせるのか」を考えると、違いが分かりやすいですね!

最後に会話をノートに写して、英文をもう一度確認しました。

Lesson Review

今日のレッスンの振り返りを書きました。

今週は、聞こえた単語だけではなく、

「何を指している?」
「何が省略されている?」
「この場面なら、どの言葉を使う?」

と、会話の意味を考えながら英語を読みました。

Listen → Imagine → Think → Speak!

Lesson Report MEL-5 September 24, 2026

Hello, Class! This is Towako from MEL School.

How are you doing?

This week, we completed Unit 2: “What is the best way to study?” in Q Skills. Over the past few months, we have learned about memory, multitasking, and neural connections. This time, you brought all of those ideas together and thought about one important question: How can I actually improve the way I study?

You discussed the ideas with a partner, shared your understanding with the class, and then used what you learned to write about your own study habits. This is the final step of the unit: not just understanding information, but applying it to yourself and expressing your ideas in English.

See you next time!

Towako

ELST

Listening A2.2 #20

You first worked on the listening questions individually and then checked the conversations together.

We studied several useful words and expressions from the conversations, including vocabulary related to ships and airplanes, such as aboard, take off, and land. We also looked at some grammar points, including different uses of as.

After understanding the conversations, you practiced them through pair role-play.

When you meet an unfamiliar word, don't stop at its Japanese meaning. Pay attention to the situation in which it is used and try to connect the word with an image or context.

Remember to add new words to My 練習帳!

Q Skills for Success Reading and Writing Level 1

Unit 2: What is the best way to study?

Unit Assignment — Write About How You Study

We returned to the three important questions from this unit:

Why are repetition and practice the secret to a good memory?

Why is multitasking bad for your memory?

How do we make strong neural connections in our brain?

First, you went back to the readings and video to find the information you needed. Then you discussed the questions with a partner and shared your ideas with the class.

The main ideas are connected:

Repetition and practice → Stronger neural connections → Better memory

When we multitask, however, we cannot give our full attention to what we are learning. That makes it harder to learn and remember information effectively.

The important skill here is synthesizing: bringing information from different texts and activities together to understand a larger idea.

Writing: How Has Your Studying Changed?

Next, you used what you learned to think about your own study habits.

You compared:

What I did before I learned about the brain
with
What I am going to do to study better

You then worked on your Unit Assignment for Google Classroom.

In your writing, try to use the skills we practiced throughout Unit 2:

  • give specific examples from your own experience

  • connect ideas using but and so

  • use the simple past when writing about what you did before

  • explain what you are going to change and why

This assignment brings together everything we have practiced in the unit:

Read → Understand → Discuss → Connect → Write

The goal is not to repeat the textbook. Use what you learned from the readings and video to reflect on your own learning and make your own decisions about how to study better.

Monthly Review

Finally, you reflected on your learning this month.

Think about:

What did I improve?
What is still difficult for me?
What do I want to improve next?
What can I do to make that happen?

Learning English takes time. Reading faster, understanding vocabulary in context, speaking more naturally, and writing clearly all require repeated practice.

And that connects perfectly with what we learned in Unit 2!

Practice doesn't just help you remember English — practice changes how your brain learns.

Great work this month! 🌟
