Lesson Report MEL-5 July 16, 2026

Hello, Class! This is Towako from MEL School.

How are you doing?

This time, we learned an important reading strategy called restating.

Good readers don't simply repeat the original sentence—they explain the same idea using different words.

Being able to restate information shows that you truly understand the content, and it will also help you improve your speaking and writing skills.

See you next week!

Towako

ELST

Listening A2.2 #14

You practiced listening to short conversations, checked important grammar and vocabulary, and practiced role-playing in pairs.

Keep reviewing these expressions regularly—they will become part of your active vocabulary.

Q Skills for Success Reading and Writing Level 1

Unit 2

What is the best way to study?

Reading 1: The Secret to Good Memory

We continued reading the article by reviewing one paragraph at a time.

This week's focus was restating—expressing the same idea using different words.

Rather than memorizing sentences, you practiced identifying the main idea and explaining it in your own words.

For example, you restated the key idea from Paragraph 1:

People forget most new information quickly.

This is an important academic skill that will help you summarize articles, explain ideas, and write more effectively.

Thinking About Effective Study

Finally, we returned to the Unit Question:

What is the best way to study?

Using the article as evidence, you decided which study methods were effective.

Some important conclusions were:

  • ✔️ Review vocabulary a little every day.
  • ✔️ Practice words in different ways, such as speaking, writing, and spelling.
  • ✔️ Listen and read at the same time.
  • ✔️ Keep activity pages reusable by writing answers on separate paper.
  • ❌ Studying everything at once is not an effective strategy.

These ideas are not only useful for English—they can help you become a more efficient learner in every subject.

Lesson Report Advanced July 15, 2026

Hello, Class! This is Towako from MEL School.

How are you doing?

This week, we continued our Psychology unit by exploring an important question:

How do we know what is true?

Good readers don't just understand English—they also think critically about the information they read. Learning to tell facts from opinions is an essential skill, especially in today's world.

See you next week!

Towako

ELST Narration

B1.2 #8 Suggestions to Be a Good Runner

This time, you listened to a narration about how to become a better runner.

After taking notes, you explained the main ideas to your partner and discussed whether running is a good form of exercise.

We also checked the script together and learned useful vocabulary and expressions related to health and fitness.

Q Skills for Success Reading and Writing -1

Unit 8 Psychology

What are you afraid of these days?

Reading 1: A Dangerous World?

We reviewed the article by reading it one paragraph at a time and then looked more deeply at the author's ideas.

You practiced identifying cause-and-effect relationships, organizing information in a chart, and explaining why people often feel that the world is becoming more dangerous.

We also learned an important reading skill:

Facts vs. Opinions

You practiced deciding whether statements were facts or opinions and identified opinion statements using words such as think, believe, and should.

Being able to distinguish facts from opinions is an essential skill for critical reading and for evaluating information in everyday life.

Write What You Think

Finally, you discussed questions about the news and the media, including:

  • Where do you get your news?
  • How can you tell facts from opinions?
  • Is crime increasing or decreasing?
  • Why does the news focus so much on crime?

After the discussion, you chose one question and wrote your own response on Google Classroom.

Expressing and supporting your own opinion is one of the most important goals of the Advanced Class.
