イギリスには運についての多くの言い伝えがある。悪運については傘や鏡についてのものだ。家の中で傘を開くと実際危ないことから、そして昔ギリシャでは病人が鏡にはっきり映れば回復するとされていたため、鏡を割ると7年間悪運が続くという言い伝えがある。馬の蹄鉄を正しく吊るすと幸運をもたらすと言われている。黒猫は悪運の象徴とも言われるが多くの言い伝えでは幸運とされている。(180字)
