1. Read the story aloud in class. Teacher corrects pronunciation where necessary.

2. Read and study the questions (1)-(7).

3. Tell the students to underline where they can find the answer.

4. Ask the question to have students answer. Check the form.

5. Read the text aloud again.

6. Work in pairs. Students ask and answer the questions (1)-(7).

Homework: Write the answers.

Task: STT  Read to Edmodo the last three sentences. (There aren’t any cherry trees … each other very well.)

-       Have them look at the picture on the page and ask them what they can see in it. => Listen to the CD.

-       Answer the questions: Why is Hanako waiting for the flowers? What do humans do when they make promises? What is RoboCorpus showing on the wall? Is Hanako happy with RoboCorpus’s message?

-       Read the text aloud in good rhythm and pronunciation with good intonation.

Grammar practice: Have students repeat the following sentences to make them recognize indirect questions.

 Why is Hanako waiting for the flowers. => Do you know why Hanako is waiting for the flowers? / Yes. We know why Hanako is waiting for the flowers.

Give them the Japanese: あなたはなぜ英語を学習しているのですか。Why are you learning English? あなたはなぜ英語を学習しているか知っていますか。Do you know why you are learning English? はい。私たちはなぜ英語を学習しているか知っています。Yes. We know why we are learning English. 英語はとても大事だからです！Because English is very important!
