Hello, Class! This is Towako from MEL School.
How are you doing?
This week, we completed our Unit 1 Poster Assignment with a peer review session and started Unit 2: Psychology in Q Skills.
In the poster session, you evaluated each other's work, focusing on how clearly and effectively the posters communicated their messages about online safety and misinformation.
Then we moved on to a new topic: How do colors affect our feelings, behavior, and decisions? We discussed our personal color preferences and explored how different people—and different cultures—may respond to colors differently.
See you next week!

Q Skills for Success Reading and Writing 2
Unit 1: Communication and Media
Poster Assignment — Peer Review
We reviewed each other's posters about online safety and misinformation using a peer review sheet.
The main points were:
Design: Is the poster visually clear and easy to follow?
Content: Is the message understandable and accurate?
Effectiveness: Is the advice useful for the intended audience?
We also discussed how simpler illustrations can sometimes communicate a message more effectively than complicated ones.
Remember, the audience for this assignment was elementary school students. A successful poster should help them understand and remember the message quickly.
The goal of peer review is not simply to find mistakes, but to help each other improve the final product.
Unit 2: Psychology
Getting Started — Colors and Human Behavior
We began the new unit by discussing our interest in psychology and why people sometimes make different decisions.
Then we explored our personal color preferences.
What colors do you like to wear? Are there any colors you avoid?
We discovered that even within our small class, people have different preferences.
Next, we listened to The Q Classroom, where students discussed how colors might influence people's feelings and behavior.
Some people prefer bright colors, while others find darker or softer colors more relaxing. We also learned that cultural background can influence how people perceive colors.
This led us to an important question:
Are our color preferences simply personal choices, or are they influenced by our experiences and culture?
We then reviewed vocabulary related to colors and their effects and listened to an article exploring how colors influence people's perceptions.
