Lesson Report MEL-5 October 8, 2026

Hello, Class! This is Towako from MEL School.

How are you doing?

This week, we completed Unit 2: What is the best way to study? and started Unit 3: How does social media change the way we travel?

In ELST, we continued practicing inference—understanding what speakers mean from the context, even when the answer is not directly stated. You are gradually getting more comfortable with this skill!

In Q Skills, we finished revising our writing and moved on to a new topic: travel and social media. We began exploring how people share their travel experiences and how social media might influence the way we travel.

See you next week!

Towako

ELST Listening A2.2 #22

We practiced the listening questions individually, checked the conversation together, and reviewed important grammar and vocabulary. Then we practiced the conversation through pair role-play.

The key skill was inference.

Sometimes, the answer is not directly stated. You need to understand the situation and think about what the speakers really mean.

Listen → Understand the context → Infer the meaning

You are getting more used to this process. Keep listening for the meaning of the whole conversation, not just individual words.

Q Skills for Success Reading and Writing 1

Unit 2: What is the best way to study?

We completed the final stage of our Unit Assignment.

REVISE AND EDIT — Rewrite → Share

After receiving feedback from your peer reviewer, you revised your writing and shared the improved version.

Remember, if you have questions about your partner's feedback, ask! Peer review is not just about correcting mistakes. It is an opportunity to make your ideas clearer and learn from each other.

Unit 3: How does social media change the way we travel?

We started the new unit by looking at a travel photo and discussing our own experiences.

  • Do you take a lot of photos when you travel?

  • What do you do with those photos?

We also listened to The Q Classroom and identified each student's ideas.

These activities helped us start thinking about how social media connects people and influences their travel experiences.

Reading 1: Travel with Talib

Before reading the blog post, we practiced eight vocabulary words:

culture, discover, experience, history, improve, popular, relax, share

We then previewed the reading by looking at the blog's name, author, and title.

Previewing is an important reading strategy. Before reading the text, look for clues that help you predict what it will be about.

Preview → Predict → Read → Understand

This helps you connect new information with what you already know.
