Lesson Report Advanced September 30, 2026

Hello, Class! This is Towako from MEL School.

How are you doing?

This week, we practiced speaking, evaluating information, and building academic vocabulary.

In ELST, you talked about your exercise habits and practiced responding naturally in conversation. In Q Skills, we continued exploring online information and misinformation, but this time we connected the topic directly to AI: How do you evaluate AI answers?

We also worked on word families and looked at how suffixes can help us recognize nouns and verbs. Finally, you started preparing a poster about online information and safety.

See you next week!

Towako

ELST Speaking B1.1 #2

We practiced talking about exercise with a partner:

What do you usually do for exercise?

The goal was to listen to your partner, respond naturally, and develop the conversation using the English you already know.

Q Skills for Success Reading and Writing Level 2

Evaluating Online Information and AI Answers

We discussed how we decide whether information online is reliable. We then extended the discussion to AI:

What do you do to evaluate AI answers?
Do you trust AI answers without checking them?

You discussed different strategies, including checking the original source, comparing information with other reliable sources, and thinking carefully about where the information comes from.

We also talked about how AI is being used for school assignments and how teachers may evaluate whether students have actually done the thinking themselves.

The important point is that AI can help us find and organize information, but we still need to evaluate the information ourselves.

Ask → Check → Compare → Evaluate

Vocabulary — Word Families

We practiced recognizing word families and identifying whether a word is being used as a noun or a verb.

We also looked at suffixes such as -ion and -ment, which often help us recognize nouns.

Words such as influence, study, research, and review can be used differently depending on the sentence, so context is important.

Rather than memorizing vocabulary as isolated words, pay attention to:

the root → the word form → its role in the sentence

This will help you both read academic texts and choose words more accurately in your own writing.

Poster Project — Online Information and Safety

Finally, we looked at different poster designs and discussed what makes a poster effective.

A good design depends on:

Who is the audience?
Where will they see it?
What message should they understand quickly?

Your assignment is to create a poster about online information, safety, or recognizing misinformation and be ready to present it next time.

The goal is not only to include correct information, but to think about how to communicate it effectively to a particular audience.
