Review: Shadowing. => Revisit the example. => Students try retelling in pairs.

Example: Shingo meets Gordon at the supermarket. Gordon tells Shingo he works at a ramen shop. When he says he just washes the dishes and watches the chefs, he wants to say, “It’s important to watch and learn.” He instead says, “Well, important is …”

Shingo and Gordon are in the instant ramen section at the supermarket. Gordon wants to eat ramen and salad for dinner. When Shingo hears that, he wants to say, “It’s important for us to eat vegetables.” He instead says, “Right. We’re … important vegetables.”

Shingo is watching an English video. It shows an original way to make instant ramen. The woman in the video says, “Do you know how to cook an omelet?” Unfortunately, Shingo can’t understand her.

After work, Shingo meets Gordon. They continue talking about the ramen. Gordon says he used to eat cheeseburgers after hockey practice, but ramen is better. Then, Shingo says, “I know that!” It sounds a bit rude to Gordon. Actually, Shingo wants to talk about the video and say, “You know what?”
