(p. 74-) Lesson 35

Review the example from the last lesson. Do shadowing. => Show the PPT.=> Students try retelling in pairs. Give them 2 min. each.

 

Example: Shingo meets Emilia. She is walking home from school. Emilia tells Shingo that school is different from the one in Texas. When she says she tries to eat everything in her school lunch, Shingo wants to say, “You must not waste food.” He instead says, “That’s good. You don’t go … waste food …”

Shingo and Emilia are talking about cleaning at school. She says she was surprised to learn that the students clean the school in Japan. When Shingo hears that, he wants to say, “Japanese students have to do a lot of cleaning.” He instead says, “Ah. Japanese students … clean …しないと”

Emilia is talking about lunch at her school in Texas. She tells Shingo that they often eat tocos, cheeseburgers, or pizza there. She says that Japanese school lunch is very healthy. She also says, “You don’t have to go to the cafeteria.” Unfortunately, Shingo can’t understand her.

Shingo is talking with Emilia about her Japanese school lunch. She says her favorite school lunch is the thing with meat and potatoes, nikujaga. She also says it is good for students to get extra rice. Shingo wants to say, “That’s true,” but he can’t say it in English.
